After posting pics of the amazing DVD nook (which is not mine), there apparently was some interest in pics of my DVD collection... ch che che che check it out!
Pretty dang impressive! I'm alsao incredibly relieved to see I'm not the only one who alphebetizes their collection, and keeps TV shows entirely seperate!
I havern't counted my DVDs in a while - will have to do so and snap a photo to share. What a cool feature!
You've got competition DJ! Any girl who owns Strictly Ballroom, Terminator and Office Space is a certified cine-hottie in my book. Wait, that sounds like something you buy from Cinnabon... Nevermind.
My fave side-by-side: Ghost World and Girl Next Door
I alphabetize too. Now I want to post my collection. Methinks you've got a meme on your hands.
The real biting question is which ones your hiding for picture day. Also, it frosts me that anyone owns "Frost/Nixon."
I alphabetize by director. I could pic my wall but I'm not sure where to post pictures. I'm notoriously curmudgeonly and removed on my blog... maybe I'll try this tumblr thing people keep going on about.
You have all three seasons of Roswell on your bottom shelf, quite stellar! I only have the 3rd season. The new packaging features Katerine Heigl prominently but I need to find the originals cover art like yours.
It sounds stupid, but it just occurred to me about an overabundant DVD collection and romantic partnerships. In a divorce settlement who would gain custody of the DVDs? It could be an idea for a short comedy film. Anybody interested in a joint partnership on the idea? :P
@ DJ... It's come up playfully between my fiancee and I a few times, since with three months to go until our wedding there are still duplicate copies of certain titles.
@Sam, I didn't hide anything! There's just some tv on the bottom shelf that you can't see from that angle, and some ones on the side that you can't really see, but nothing is hidden!
@Blake, Six Feet Under was my entire summer two years ago. Literally became obsessed. As for Wendy and Lucy, I hate to say it, but I did not like it. Not terrible just, I didn't feel anything. A girl lost her dog, poor girl. Maybe I will re-watch and re-evaluate.
@Karen I had no idea there was new packaging, that's a travesty! Just because she went on to have the most fame? Lame, so lame. Glad I own the originals!
@Selfstyler, your collection is inspirational.
@DJ Heinlein, I picture a silent short with music... could be really fun!
@ Everyone: Who has the comedic writing skills to produce a first draft of said short film about marraige, DVDs, and custody battles? I think it may serve as an homage to the art of cinema by allowing the opportunity to drop in a bazillion references that time will allow in a short film.
@Everyone: I can take a crack at a rough draft, if no one else wants to. I've got some good movies in mind, but how about everyone give me a list of 10 they'd love to see me incorporate. Obviously, not all films may make it.
I would like to add that I did not buy Mission Impossible 2, my ex-boyfriend bought it for me. I don't know why I haven't removed it from the collection yet...
"Mock various choices if you must."
ReplyDeleteI shall only mock with a Mock Turtle, if that pleases you.
OMG! You have Rachel Getting Married, Serenity, Phenomenon, Proof, AND Secretary all on the same shelf together? I am so in love!
ReplyDeleteAlso, there is Hook, The Devil Wears Prada, and season one of Lost in the same collection? I believe a tear of joy is starting to form.
I want a pic with the lights off and the xmas lights on.
ReplyDeleteLike the angled wall.

Damn...SISTERHOOD OF THE TRAVELLING PANTS comes right after SIN CITY. Talk about a genre shift.
ReplyDeleteI actually won't let my fiancee and I combine our movie shelves for that very reason.

I would love to see pics of other collections! Do it, and it all started here ;)
ReplyDelete@Fletch, the xmas lights pic is coming...
Thanks for all the lovely comments guys! There's a bunch you can't see in the pics either, plus I am running out of room!

I alphabetize too! I own a weird number of the same movies.
ReplyDeleteOwning Six Feet Under wins you a lot of points.
PS - I saw you watched Wendy and Lucy. What'd you think?

ReplyDeleteJust finished an article at my blog - 770ish DVDs! My, I must have spent quite a bit over the past few years. Photos included.

ReplyDelete@DJ- That does have potential. I'd be interested.

ReplyDeleteI'm not surprised that your collection of DVDs shares some similarities with mine! Besides, although I can see some guilty pleasures in your collection (who doesn't have these anyway?), I always knew that you have good taste. In fact, looking at Kill Bill, Amélie, Frost/Nixon, Atonement, Brokeback Mountain, Sin City, Vicky Cristina Barcelona, Milk or Spiderman 2 just to name a few, is like looking at many NHL trophies. Finally, now that it's summer, I've got to find some time to watch the first season of Six Feet Under since I liked Michael C. Hall's performance in Dexter. Besides, I'll eventually post some pictures of my DVD collection when I'm done with a few reviews.

ReplyDeleteThe first 'Mission Impossible,' the De Palma one, is actually quite good.
ReplyDeleteVery jealous by your vast and choice collection. Awesome pics - thanks so much for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI love how many titles I can pick out by the spines and not even have to read the word. Awesome.
