First Look: 2010's Alice in Wonderland, Burton Style

Here is your first look at promotional materials from Burton's upcoming Alice in Wonderland. Mia Wasikowska as Alice, Anne Hathaway as the White Queen, Matt Lucas as Tweddledee and Tweedledum, Helena Bonham Carter as the Queen of Hearts, and Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter. It's all saturated to the max and with a level of childlike creepiness only Burton can provide (also thrilled that Michael Sheen is also in the ensemble). The question remains, will this be his newest biggest hit, or a disaster the likes of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory?

The official US release date is now March 5, 2010, so only time will tell what's in store for Tim.

  1. This is thrilling. I'm excited to think that, at least story-wise, this is going to be more like "ALICE IN WONDERLAND" (1985) -- given the presence of a White Queen and a Red Queen -- and less like the animated Disney version.

  2. I'm very excited! Especially since I loved Sweeney Todd.

  3. Obviously I can't wait for this one. Beyond Depp I'm really anxious to see Noah Taylor as The March Hare and Crispin Glover as The Knave of Hearts.

    Grrr...why isn't it March yet??

  4. I'm so so so so torn. on one hand I love burton and alice in wonderland, and these pictures look so imaginative. on the other hand, they are way more extreme than I ever would have imagined...so extreme that it's almost completely unrecognisable - maybe it'll be clearer in context. also, the story of the film is ridiculously different from the real aiw story (read summary here - SPOILERS - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1014759/board/thread/139627090) and I'm not sure if it'll work. I love adaptations and interpretations, but again, this is so different that it's basically a different story. then again, it could be really good. I just can't wait for it to come out and see.

  5. Do they deal with Alice's dysfunctional relationship with her dentist dad? Ugh.

Johnny Depp + light contact lenses + tooth gap = Elijah Wood
