"And like a tunnel under peaceful fire..."

Jon Bovi SNL

I can't be the only one who loves Jon Bovi right?

Who needs therapy when you have the great outdoors?

Chances are today you've seen Willem Dafoe's ass. Why? Because today's the day Lars von Trier's Antichrist trailer premiered. The cast consists of Dafoe, Charlotte Gainsbourg and an ark full of animals. And to be honest, watching it made me crawl under my covers and never come out. I don't know how I'll make it through the movie... Everybody's favorite adjective to describe it seems to be creepy, but I'm going to with sinister and shuddersome because they sound better.

Come back, come back!
In most cases, especially one such as this, Ausiello's word is as good as gold. This isn't the first time I wished he was wrong, but we all know in guts that's he right. Sarah Connor Chronicles. Time of Death, 4:07pm. Official Time of Death, May 18th 2009.

Peace be with you. And also with you.

Jonny come lately

Efronious is set to take on 11 year old Jonny Quest (who'll they'll be skewing older obviously)... Sure it makes sense, but is it exciting? I swear between all the slated cartoon comic remakes and franchises set to release and on the books, it feels like Hollywood is just drawing one big blank.

But with that said Efron is likely better suited to this role than most. So if it has to get made, casting's got my approval.

Isn't this a conflict of interest?

If you play a werewolf in one vampire franchise, isn't unethical to play a blood sucker in another? Seriously Michael Sheen, how do we know you won't suddenly turn and sympathize with the wolfy ones?

But for real word on the street is that Sheen will be playing head Vampire, Aros, in Twilight's New Moon. The man is addicted to playing the same parts over and over and over. but I'm not one to complain.

Pebble in your shoe

A Huge thanks to one of my new fav blogs, The Playlist, for alerting me to Ryan Gosling's enormously enjoyable 2 man band. Especially this video, "Name in Stone." Now not only can I enjoy one of the best actors onscreen, but I can also listen to his soothing voice as he serenades me to sleep. It's like falling in love all over again.

Anyways be sure to check out The Playlist. They're great.

Double Feature!

Ever had a rainy day where you thought, man, I wish I had a convenient way of searching to see what 2 movies were playing successively in my local theaters to make the perfect double feature? Well problem solved. You can thank me later.

On a totally separate note, SpoutBlog rattles off "10 Likable Tax Agents." Where can I find me a Harold Crick? (Yeah, I'm one of the people that secretly loved Stranger than Fiction.)

Seasonal Wake-Up
"Please make this into a movie! Please make this into a movie! I'll be good every day for a month. I'll clean my room, make my bed, walk the imaginary dog!"

(/film Twitter bird whispers in my ear)

"Oh really? It's taken care of? Awesome."

Ok, it's not exactly taken care of, but it's on the books.

The Gang's All Here: The TSCC Season 2 Finale

First off, I loved the finale! But I've been reading a few other reviews on the last ep, and unfortunately the hope that others seem to be finding in it for the show's comeback, I just don't see. So I'm going to counter some of the points other writers have made in favor of the show's return. But let me repeat, I LOVED the finale...SPOILER ALERT...

Point 1 for Return: The last few episodes have gotten considerably better compared to the rest of the season.

Rebuttal: Too little too late. I love how much Josh Friedman and co. seemed to be able to pull off in the last 4 eps, but pulling a lot of stunts at the end when you've already been threatened with cancellation twice is just not enough. Considering what an expensive show TSCC is to film, its lack of air time viewers, and hardcore fan's general disappointment with the rocky second season (me not included), it's looking increasingly unlikely that FOX will opt for a renewal. Not to mention that after Terminator Salvation comes out, their hopes for mutual publicity will be over.

Point 2 for Return: Jumping into the future opens up a whole new set of doors for the show.

Rebuttal: I'm shocked that people think this isn't the final nail in the coffin on a season 3. Let me point out that the show is called Terminator: The SARAH CONNOR Chronicles... and now Sarah and John are separated by time travel. When your title character has been all but diagnosed with Cancer and then separated permanently from the crux of the show, I think it's obvious the writers got the memo that this was it. Granted the time jump made for a great season finale cliffhangery kind of thing, but to really follow through and devote a whole season to that would be tremendously difficult.

Point 3 for Return: Derek's back! That's gotta be a good sign right?

Rebuttal: Wrong... As many of you may already know, Brian Austin Green has already accepted a starring role on the T.V. show Body Politic. Jumping ship means there's a slight chance he might try to do both shows, but there's a much better chance it means he knows the show's dead in the water.

Point 4 for Return: Terminatrix Cameron replaced with human Allison from Palmdale, awesome!

Rebuttal: I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that while this character change up could have potential (especially for fan favorite Summer Glau as an actress, Winifred/Illyria style only reversed), it's more likely a way for the writers to satisfy fan's wishes for John to end up with Cameron (one way or another). Then not only did we see as much Terminator sex as John will likely ever have, but we can imagine that in the future sometime down the line, John will finally get to have real sex with human Allison and live out all his kinky Cameron fantasies. Score for John! Speaking of the sex but not "actual" sex scene between John and Cameron, I thought they handled it surprisingly well. It made sense (sort of) and it was tension filled, but it didn't cross that "oh c'mon!" line. Congrats Glau and Dekker! You did the impossible.

Point 5 for Return: They brought back Jonathan Jackson as Kyle Reese, this must be his big T.V. return...

Rebuttal: Jackson has stayed pretty clear of serious television commitment since originating the role of Lucky on General Hospital. I highly doubt this is the beginning of his comeback.

So there you have it, my logic behind another one biting the dust... But with all that said, I'll still be devastated if/when the show isn't renewed. However the finale accomplished something nearly impossible. It managed to close out the show leaving me practically satisfied, but still left plenty of room to hook me back if it miraculously makes it to a third season. Props to all involved, and counting down to the DVD!

Now I'm off to mourn, and pray that like Jesus, the south, and terminators, this show will rise again.

John Connor finally gets some balls, and then cries about it... Friday's TSCC

Friday's T:SCC ep, Today Is The Day Part 2, also known as Last Voyage of the Jimmy Carter, gives fans some much needed assurance that John isn't going to remain a wimpy emo whiner for the WHOLE series (if it doesn't get cancelled that is)...SPOILER ALERT...The boy is finally starting to take some responsibility for being the savior of the planet, and getting his ass in gear. Episode 19 picks up where 18 leaves off, with John looking further into Riley's death, while simultaneously following Jessie's past story line aboard her submarine. After going to the morgue to view Riley's body, John becomes sure that Cameron couldn't have killed her, and returns home apologetic for ever having doubted her... I mean, she's a terminator with a "glitchy" past, a little doubt is in order I think. In any case, John and Cameron are clearly getting too close for Sarah's comfort, not to mention that John is pushing Sarah away at every turn. She resorts to a mean girls tactic and gets into Cameron's head by asking, what is actually a very good question. John sent her back to past... why? Why didn't he want her with him anymore?

Lots of semi-interesting stuff happens aboard the submarine, most importantly the crazy liquid metal terminator inside "Connor's box" is set free, and that's never good. But the crucial scene is back in the present with John's bad ass confrontation of Jessie. His slow, deliberate monologue covers a lot of ground, including the back story that he knew, Riley knew, who he really was. At first I thought John's big speech was pretty cliche, as if he'd watched too many action movies. But then, it occurred to me, John is still very young in the show. This is exactly how his character would handle his first interrogation. And of course, it was just nice to see the guy man up a little and start to look a little more like the "hero" he'll become. He decides, in his infinite goodness I suppose, to let Jessie go without a shot to the head. As she leaves, she asks him if her plan to frame Cameron would have worked if she has succeeded in convincing him. Would he have killed the fembot? "No," he replies. That says a hell of a lot.

Jessie's escape is short lived however, when she runs into Derek in the parking garage. I have to say that Brian Austin Green has come a long way from 90210. I really enjoy him on the show in general, but this particular scene was stand out.

"John Connor let you go. I'm not John Connor."

Overall the ep covers a ton of ground, including whether or not in the future John can actually be trusted. We now know that he's asked if the liquid metal terminators would "join them." Is John really the hero everyone thinks he is? Or has the future corrupted him? Also, I can't get enough of Garret Dillahunt's "John Henry." He's just so good at playing a creepy adult robot child.

But for all the ep's power, strength, and balls, the show ends with John crying into his mother's lap... still just a sheep in a wolf's leather jacket. Watch the full ep here.

(sorry for the TV rant, I just love this show)

Up She Goes

Trailer B for UP is out, and it includes a talking dog, and some sort of a multi-colored peacock? Still on the track of looking promising though. I have to admit that I'm not on pins and needles for this one as much as I was for WALL-E. Pixar has spoiled me with their perfection... it can't last. Can it?

On a completely different note,

Tonight's ep of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles covered a lot of the clips we saw in the Ausiello spoiler vid I posted earlier...
SPOILER ALERT... Tonight we discover that Cameron's still got a bit of an itch to terminate, and that's not good news for John, or the Audubon society apparently. We also find out that Jessie, aka the girl with the indeterminate accent, has been using Riley, and not in the way we originally thought. Riley's mission to get close to John was actually a ploy all along to provoke Cameron to termination level, thus leading her to off blondie and breaking her sexy robot bond with Connor. Lucky for all of us out there who detested Riley and every moment of air time she got, the blonde is no more! Jessie and Riley's chick fight became more like a cage match, and we all know only one can leave the cage alive. So now Riley's out of the way and John is free to contemplate whether he wants to blow up or bang ro-betty Cameron. Since Summer Glau makes the show worth watching, I'm betting it will be the latter.

HUMONGOUS SPOILER VID FOR TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES

Turns out the new Terminator Salvation trailer isn't the most exciting Terminator news this week. If you've become a rabid T:TSCC fan like me, then today you're excited about two things:
  1. We're a week away from what will obviously be the best ep of The Big Bang Theory to date because Summer Glau is guesting it up
  2. Ask Ausiello released this (link below) amazing spoiler vid for the final six eps of the T:TSCC season which aired at Wondercon.

I don't normally say omfg for anything but Gossip Girl, but, OMFG!

(had to watch it 3 times just to make sure I got everything)

Ignore the poster btw, the show now airs Fridays at 8pm on Fox
