Kurylenko takes a queue from Knightley

First image from Neil Marshall's Centurion has now been made available via Empire, and my first reaction when I saw it was, "damn, that looks familiar..."

Seems Marshall (or hair and make-up) got some inspiration for Olga Kurylenko's look from Keira Knightley in 2004's King Arthur. Let's hope that's the only thing these two films have in common, because I've only seen 3 movies in theaters I should have walked out on, and King Arthur is one of them.

Centurion will follow the story of Quintus Dias, sole survivor of a pictish raid on a Roman frontier fort. He joins the Ninth Legion to march and destroy the Picts and their leader. Sounds like a classic revenge action film. Michael Fassbender will star as Quintus.

  5. Okay, what are the other two you walked out on? I have never walked out, but I am a masochist. Closest I ever came to doing it? Mannequin.

  6. haha mannequin...

The other 2 were both this summer. The Happening and Adam Resurrected. so. very. awful.

  7. I am ashamed to admit I paid money for Mannequin. I had been watching them film it in my neighborhood in Philly months earlier, but, geez.

Again with the masochism, but the deleted scenes/bonus features on The Happening are worth watching. M. Night introduces them, clearly oblivious to the fact that they are even more awful than the awful movie they weren't good enough to be part of. There's a scene where people start killing themselves at a children's music recital (actually, they just start dropping dead, which breaks the rules of the movie, right?) There's the kid who commits suicide by swallowing his violin bow. I am not making this up. There's the John Cassavettes/Ingmar Bergman opening scene of marital discord, which I guess makes us "care" for the main characters. Truly terrible and fascinating to me.

  8. I almost walked out the door while watching THE HAPPENING... and I was watching it on a plane. It must some of the most mangled lines ever:

"There appears to be... some kind of... event... happening."

An event? Oh boy! Like a festival? A cake sale? A village fair? A poodle contest? A sponsored silence?

I love the idea that advisors and assistants to would leaders say this to the President or Prime Minister whenever something serious is going down. But it actually just holds everything up while they sit around and try and guess... hmmm event, event, gee... I wonder, what kind of an event... hmmm... Hey heeeey!! Waaaait a minute! You don't mean a mass death event do you?

Or how about Zooey 'saucer eyes' Deschanel with:

"Just when you thought there couldn't be any more evil that could be invented"

Trust me - I've never thought that because it's the most absurd sentence I've ever head. It's like she's written as a four year old but cast as Zooey.

Anyway - thanks for the mention. The FilmTheBlanks shop should be open next Wed. If you or anyone you know is interested.
